The American Dream

The American Dream

The Dream can be smelled everywhere
it oozes from everyones mind
People willing to die just to have a shot
Travel enormous distances
which turn out to be tombstones above their heads

It has always been an illusion
A mirage in the minds of poor and desperate
An insane and crazy altercation
between a dream
and the never ending sorrow

Those who survive the journey
think that they are done
but nightmares and sleepless nights follow
Sadness will not be denied

Haunted by an illusion
People even risk their lives
hoping that luck is not far behind
from the dreams they dare not let out of sight
